Tsilos Provincial Park | Meant To Be EP 03

In the last episode of “Meant To Be” we were fleeing from fires and in this episode we're still coming down from that experience. However, after being displaced we stumbled upon a park we had never heard of, but it absolutely blew our minds! Hope you enjoy the video and the photos below!

After two long days of driving, we had escaped the smokey conditions from the wildfires in all around the Canadian Rockies. That evening in the camper we perused the map, as we often do, and a brilliantly blue streak caught our eyes. It was a lake, and it looked to be surrounded by snow capped mountains. Upon closer look it was part of a Provincial Park we had never heard of. Our interest was piqued. Sure it was a pretty big detour from our route, but all of a sudden we had some free time after fleeing the fires in Jasper. What I love about MAK is that she says “YES!” to these spontaneous, and sometimes ill-advised ideas. This one wasn’t ill-advised though, promise.

As we pulled into the campground of Tsilos Provincial Park we were mildly surprised to see no one there. We were in the middle of summer and this place was abandoned. How lucky were we?

Here we found the perfect place to decompress after the heartbreaking news of Jasper.

Days blended together and eventually we had run out of time and food. It’s amazing what can happen when you follow a spontaneous whim. This place we won’t soon forget.

A lovely campsite by some interesting badlands and there were even sand dunes nearby!

Our next stop was Bella Coola where we had a date with a boat. And not just us, Jolene was joining us too. That’s right, we were catching a ferry. This trip would take us 10 hours and 185 miles to the northern end of Vancouver Island.

From what we understand, this is an incredibly scenic ride through the fjords of this region. Unfortunately for us, we were socked in and primarily had to use our imagination. When we landed on Vancouver Island we rolled off the boat, got some smoked salmon and got ready for the next leg of our adventure!

We’ve used the same set of Eagle Creek Pack-It cubes for the last 8.5 years to store all of our clothes in our many vehicles. Eagle Creek has long been our go to brand for all things packing both inside the camper and for away from truck travel! Use code BFN15 for 15% off!

Our life runs on Redarc! We’re able to work from the road because of the incredibly complex power management system and solar panels from Redarc. You’d be hard pressed to find a better power management system anywhere.
