Summer Adrift Episode 3: A Sad Farewell

These weeks really seem to be flying by! We’re already at week 3 in our Summer Adrift series! Here is the video, followed by our behind the scenes images and stories!

After leaving the Capitol Reef area we moved further north, once again looking for a place to spend our last few days with Karissa and Linhbergh. On our way to our destination, we stopped at a shallow and cool creek to take a dip and escape the heat, if even for just a few mins.

While we were in the water, Owen took a dip and lost his sunglasses in the current which were never to be seen again… Just moments after I told him he should be careful with them. Face in palm.

Once we arrived at camp Owen and I got to work shooting some photos that were for a partnered project with Branwyn! Branwyn is my (MAK’s) favorite underwear company because they’re technical, sustainable, and incredibly comfortable. They also happen to be one of the sponsors for this series, a huge thank you to them for being such a huge support of us and our life on the road! If there are any ladies in your life, and you’re looking for a gift, look no further. We actually have a discount code for them as well, use code BFN15 for 15% off your first order.

Ok, back to business!

Karissa and Linhbergh are automotive photographers and thus had ALL of their work canceled due to COVID-19, but they were starting to get word that their projects were starting to get rescheduled. They needed to head back home to Long Beach, so this would be their last stop with us. We wanted to spend their last days sitting still and enjoying each others company as much as possible before we had to say goodbye.

Thankfully our camp spot was beautiful making it easy to sit still with a great view.

While we were here we did a hike that left from camp and went straight down into the valley below. The hike didn’t take us very far but gave us a new view into the canyon below which is also known as “the Little Grand Canyon”.

To be honest, at this point in the series we were shooting footage of our travels (as you have seen) but we didn’t think we’d do anything with it. It wasn’t for another week or two that we finally committed to making a series out of what we were capturing. Looking back at the footage as we’ve been building this series, there is a noticeable difference between the episodes before we decided we wanted to makes something in comparison to after. I look forward to that point in the series because the production quality really starts to pick up.

We also did a lot of yoga in these final days. How could you not with a view like we had here?!

These are my favorite ladies to exercise with. They make it so fun to take time out of the day to do something for ourselves. We often find ourselves giggling constantly while also holding each other accountable, I don’t know where I’d be this year without these two.

And that’s it! This episode was short and sweet as we transition in to our push to the north. Karissa and Lin left for Long Beach and the rest of us left a few minutes after, not entirely sure of our destination, just ready for something new! See you next week my friends!

Love,

MAK
