At the end of Episode 1 we were in Capitol Reef National Park. We then made our way to this special spot outside the park for a few days to sit still and wait for our last party to arrive!

We’ve stayed in this area a few times before but it was always for a single night. We looked forward to having the time to see this landscape at all hours of the day. The way the light moves across this landscape is constantly changing, and it never gets old to watch.

I mean look at that! Everyday that we were in this area we woke up for sunrise to see first light so Owen could time lapse and we could shoot the sunrise.

Finally Peter and Shruthi arrived from their quarantine to join us for our Summer Adrift. They too had plans to head to Alaska when/if the boarders ever opened. So we decided to set out together to bide our time and lean on each other in these weird and unpredictable times.

It felt good to have this group back together. Even thought we’ve all met within the last year and a half, these people feel like they’ve been apart of our family for ever.

In our three (ish) days here we worked, hung out, eat, took way too many photos and made each other laugh at every opportunity. Which is easy to do!

Eventually, Chase and Aimee had to head out for a brief work trip solo, so they parted ways with plans to meet up soon a little further north! It was sad to see them go just as the team was going together, but we knew they’d be back in no time!

The following day we headed to our next destination for a night to see a special spot for one last sunrise before we left the area for our next destination.

Once again we took a bunch of pictures and goofed off the whole time, but MAN can the desert do a sunrise or what?!

That wraps up episode 2. We moved really slow and took our time while we were here. We really love that type of travel because it feels like you get the chance to know a place more intimately!

Now we are just a few days out from episode 3! See you Sunday at 5pm pst!

Love,

MAK
