Lost & Found.

We spent the summer of 2021 exploring Alaska. This 15 episode series documents our trip. It covers everything from the ferry up to the bears in Katmai National Park. Throughout the summer we learned a lot about the area and ourselves.

Camping on the Ferry to Alaska

EP.01

The journey begins as MAK & Owen prepare to sail to Alaska on the Alaskan Marine Highway. Starting in Bellingham, Washington the boat travels 1000 miles north, to Juneau Alaska.

Rainforest and Icefields

EP.02

First stop in Alaska: Juneau! MAK & Owen explore multiple glaciers, meet and hike with a few locals, try some local food and beer, all while having the most breathtaking camp views they've ever had.

Ice Caves & Ice Climbing

Still in Juneau Alaska MAK & Owen head out to Mendenhall Glacier or Aak'wtaaksit, to the native Tlingit people.

Driving the ALCAN From Haines to Fairbanks

EP.04

After leaving Juneau MAK & Owen take the Alaska Marine Highway to the coastal town of Haines before an attempt to cross the closed US and Canadian Border to get to the interior of Alaska.

Denali National Park

After leaving Fairbanks MAK & Owen head to Healy in preparation for some time in Denali National Park & Preserve.

Talkeetna, Alaska

MAK & Owen spend their last day in Denali National Park before relocating to the charming town of Talkeetna.

Hatcher Pass

After leaving Talkeetna MAK & Owen head to the long awaited Hatcher Pass. They weren’t ready for the rugged beauty of this area after nearly a month of Boreal Forests.

The Fishing Bears of Katmai National Park

MAK & Owen visit Katmai National Park and Preserve to see the fishing bears of Brooks Falls. A place that has captivated them since we were kids.

Traveling the Kenia Peninsula

MAK & Owen venture onto the Kenai Peninsula for the first time in our travels in Alaska. They stop in the town of Whittier & Homer, Alaska.

Kenai Fjords National Park

In this episode MAK & Owen head to Seward, Alaska. A charming coastal town where they explore the glaciers and ice fields of Kenia Fjords National Park and take to the water to try to get out to a tide water glacier.

Dropped into the Wilderness of Alaska

There's a first for everything. In this installment of Lost & Found, MAK & Owen get dropped off by a float plane in the backcountry of the Kenai Wilderness for a few days of exploring!

Surfin the Longest Wave in Alaska

In this episode, MAK heads out into the water of the Turnagain arm to try to surf the rare Bore Tide wave before heading back to Whittier to take to the water!

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park

MAK & Owen head into the fascinating town of McCarthy, Alaska and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. From there they explore Root Glacier and the Kennicott mining operation.

Epic Alaskan Glaciers

EP.14

MAK & Owen venture back out onto Root Glacier to complete our goal of doing a polar plunge. Then they start the long journey towards the US and Canadian Border and stop to explore a road that wanders along side a glacier to find a camp spot for the night.

Driving back from Alaska

MAK & Owen complete the journey north by driving from Alaska, through Canada and back to the lower 48. The end of a grand journey.
