August 2016 in Photos

At the beginning of the month we were in the bay area and over the course of the month we trended north and ended up in Seattle. We made loads of new friends and got to catch up with some old ones as well.

In Ashland, OR we met up with Nick and Cheesebeard (what a name!). Nick is a friend from college. The two of them are hiking the PCT and it was amazing to get some insights on packing small and light! We have ambitions to do the John Muir Trail so it was a great learning experience. Nick is also documenting his hike through photos, both film and digital. He does some amazing work so check him out.

The longest we stayed anywhere was in Portland, Oregon. There we had the pleasure of staying with good friends Danny + Kris and got to catch up on some work and laundry! We always enjoy our time in Portland because of the amazing food! In the middle of our time in Portland we went out to Mogfest, an off-roading event with a focus on old European vehicles. It was ridiculous. We saw vehicles we never knew existed and it was cool to see a whole other world of people enjoying the hell out of their vehicles. While there, we got to meet a ton of amazing people from the Portland Vanagon Club and the rest of the PNW. It was a crazy hot weekend but we’re glad we toughed it out because at the end DJ and Ken took their vans on a crazy jump!

After Portland, we met up with Brad + Bex (we met them at Mogfest) in Mount Rainier. What was planned as a casual single night meet up ended up being a 4.5 day campout with us crossing over and driving most of the Olympic Peninsula. There were some hand harvested oysters for breakfast, an amazing hike, crystal clear lakes, beach walking, and beers and s’mores by the fire.

As the month winds down we are getting ready for a new kind of adventure. More details on that coming soon! Thank you to all the people that gave us a place to stay this month; James + Weiss, Sally, Danny + Kris and Christiaan. Enjoy the photos from August.
